Joel and Ethan Coen – having conquered almost every genre on the big screen – are turning their eye to the world of television.
According to Deadline, the Oscar-winning hermanos have created and will executive produce a new hourlong single-camera comedy alongside Cedar Rapids’ writer Phil Johnston.
Titled HarveKarbo, the show concerns an “an ill-tempered LA private investigator whose cases frequently involve the depraved doings of the Hollywood elite — and his deadbeat friends”.
Reads like a combination of the other LA P.I. show Bored to Death and Thomas Pynchon’s Inherent Vice, not to mention the Coens’ own Barton Fink and stoner gum-shoe flick The Big Lebowski. Needless to say, it sounds incredible.
Discuss: Guess this is how the whole darn human comedy keeps perpetuating itself.
