Warner Brothers has chosen Matt Reeves to direct the new film adaptation of The Twilight Zone television series, Deadline reports.
Only two weeks ago it was revealed that the studio was considering such big names as Christopher Nolan, Alfonso Cuaron, David Yates and Michael Bay, but it seems Reeves (Let Me In and Cloverfield) has won the top job.
The screenplay has been written by Jason Rothenberg and based on the cult classic television series created by Rod Serling, which ran from 1959 to 1964.
The studio hopes to sign Reeves immediately and begin a script rewrite, with the goal of beginning production by mid 2012. Reeves is a man in demand with three projects currently under his belt: This Dark Endeavor, a develop-and-direct film for Summit Entertainment, the adaptation of The Passage for Fox 2000, and writing and directing 8 O’Clock in the Morning for Universal.
