Disney have given the go-ahead to Gore Verbinski‘s super expensive new project The Lone Ranger, after previously pulling the plug back in August.
According to Deadline, Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have slashed the budget of the adaptation of the classic serial from $275 million to a much less terrifying (but still pricey) tag of $215 million.
Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp are still attached to star as The Lone Ranger and his side-kick Tonto.
Production will begin February next year, with a release set for December 21, 2012.
Discuss: The film will need to gross upwards of $600 million to turn a profit. Possible?
