Joel Edgerton offered 300 spin-off and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Everything’s coming up Edgerton! Vulture reports Warner Bros has offered Aussie Joel Edgerton lead roles in two major properties.

The first is a starring role in their upcoming 300 spin-off, Battle of Artemisia. Edgerton is in talks to play Themosticles, “the famed archon and general who led the greeks to victory against the invading Persians in 480 BCE'” Noam Murro will direct.

WB also pitched him Russian agent Illlya Kuryakin in Steven Soderbergh‘s upcoming adaptation of the old spy show The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Bradley Cooper is still considering playing American agent Nathaniel Solo, and it is believed he is holding out until the role of his offsider, Illya, has been cast.

Edgerton, last seen in Warrior and The Thing, is currently shooting The Great Gatsby. He will soon get to work on Kathryn Bigelow’s controversial Kill Bin Laden.

Discuss: Glad to see Joel in contention for some big roles?
