Known for his Hollywood blockbusters, Taylor Lautner is apparently ready to move into independent films. According to THR, he is in the midst of striking a deal with director Gus Van Sant.
Last seen in the dismal Abduction, and hitting our screens next in the penultimate instalment of The Twilight Saga, Lautner has shocked many by announcing he has optioned the rights to an article from The New Yorker and is circling the auteur director to help bring this low-budget film to the big screen.
With a slew of projects stalled in pre-production, including playing the absurd Stretch Armstrong for Universal, it seems Lautner is now taking his career into his own hands.
An announcement is expected to be made shortly concerning who will pen the screenplay. Lautner will both act in and produce the film through Quick Six, with production to begin in early 2012.
Discuss: Is this Gus’ way of pretending he got the Breaking Dawn gig?
