The Host picks its male leads

Max Irons and Jake Abel have scored the lead male roles in the upcoming adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s sci-fi novel The Host.

According to EW, Irons (Red Riding Hood) will play the boyfriend of Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan). Abel (Tru Loved) plays Ian, a young man who falls for the alien Wanderer that possesses Melanie’s body.

Who knew Meyer would be responsible for a love-triangle even stranger than the one featured in her Twilight saga?

Andrew Niccol will direct what will likely be the first instalment of a trilogy.
