Mad Men won’t end “in a fart”

Untouchable Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner secured a $30 million deal earlier in the year to keep his Emmy award winning show on AMC. To prove that he’s worth the money, he spilled some (vague) details about the ending of the show. Flatulence haters, you may now rest easy!

Speaking at a Q&A in L.A. (captured by Grantland), Weiner revealed he has already figured out how the show will come to a close at the end of the seventh season.

“It came to me in the middle of last season. I always felt like it would be the experience of human life. And human life has a destination. It doesn’t mean Don’s gonna die. What I’m looking for, and how I hope to end the show, is like … It’s 2011. Don Draper would be 84 right now. I want to leave the show in a place where you have an idea of what it meant and how it’s related to you.”

Does this mean Mad Men will flash-forward to 2011 in its final episode? We’re unsure. But we are sure that there won’t be any gaseous emissions in the concluding ep.

“Do I know everything that’s gonna happen? No, I don’t. But I just want it to be entertaining, and I want people to remember it fondly and not think it ended in a fart.”

Discuss: Sorry, we probably should have said ‘spoiler alert’.
