Trailer Debut: Rampart

The trailer for Oren Moverman’s Rampart has debuted online and shows Woody Harrelson as “the most corrupt cop you’ve ever seen on screen”.

Of course, these words appear within the trailer in case you couldn’t pick up on this fact after Harrelson’s character, Dave Brown, can be seen in montage style doing things only the most corrupt cops would do. There’s smoking in the police car while wearing badass sunglasses, chasing and beating down a criminal, stroking his head with a pistol while in silhouette and having trouble drinking out of a glass, amongst other things.

The film also stars Sigourney Weaver, who desperately needs to make amends after Abduction, Steve Buscemi, Robin Wright, Ben Foster, Ice Cube, Anne Heche and Cynthia Nixon.

Moverman co-wrote the screenplay with James Ellroy (L.A Confidential) and Millennium Entertainment apparently plans to submit Best Actor (Harrelson), Director and Screenplay campaigns as awards season approaches. Harrelson previously scored a Best Supporting Actor nomination in Moverman’s The Messenger.
