Johansson, Swift, Michele and Wood rumoured for Les Mis

A quartet of young ladies are rumoured to be competing for the role of Eponine in Tom Hooper’s upcoming musical adaptation of Les Misérables, the New York Post reports.

Though the Post is hardly the most reliable font of information, their suggested contenders aren’t so unlikely.

Supposedly in contention for the role are Scarlett Johansson, Taylor SwiftLea Michele and Evan Rachel Wood.

Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway have already been cast as Jean Valjean, Inspector Javert and Fantine respectively.

Les Misérables will be Hooper’s first film since he picking up the Best Director Oscar for The King’s Speech.

A release date has been set for December 7, 2012.

Discuss: Which of these four would you like to see join the cast?

  1. None of them. Lea is too identifiable in Glee (I’d expect her to break into Don’t Stop Believing at any moment), Taylor would just flick her hair and anyone who saw Valentine’s Day knows she can’t act.. Scarlett would not be believable in this role and can ERW sing? What about Emily Browning? A new unknown actress would be good. Jackman would have been a shoe-in for Valjean (sigh!).
