New images from Ridley Scott’s Prometheus

After lengthy silence on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, this week brings official new photos from the highly anticipated project.

The film has been described as Scott’s “kinda-sorta-not-really-well-maybe Alien prequel” and while bootlegged visuals were recently leaked online this is our first high-definition glimpse at the star-studded horror sci-fi.

The focus of these new images appears to be a monolithic figure we shall hence force call the giant metal head; first he’s just being creepy in the background of the “Ampule room”, then he’s being creepy in the background while Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Green explore – according to the official synopsis – “a planet in the darkest corners of the universe”.

We then have two shots without our pal, the giant metal head, but instead with Charlize Theron and Idris Elba on the bridge of the ship Prometheus looking somewhat alarmed or maybe just confused over why Theron is wearing a wetsuit.

Prometheus arrives in cinemas June 2012.
