Angelina Jolie sued over directorial debut

Angelina Jolie is being sued by a Croatian journalist who believes she has unlawfully used his story as a basis for her directorial debut In The Land of Honey.

According to Deadline, James J. Braddock (the pen-name used by Josip J. Knezevic) has filed suit against Jolie, GK Films, FilmDistrict, Scout Film and producer Edin Sarkic in federal court .

In the suit, Braddock suggests the plot of Jolie’s picture bears a striking resemblance to his 2007 book The Soul Shattering, which tells “a factual account of the tragedies suffered by Bosnian and Herzegovinian women and children during the Bosnian War”.

Adding fuel to the fire is Braddock’s claims that he met with producer Sarkic on three separate occasions.

In The Land of Blood and Honey is set to open in the United States on December 23, 2011.
