Another week, another inexplicable remake. This time, it’s of Mary Harron‘s American Psycho, based on the book by Bret Easton Ellis.
According to Variety, screenwriter Noble Jones handed in his fresh take on the tale to Lionsgate last month.
The original starred Christian Bale as 80s yuppie and sociopath Patrick Bateman. Deadline claims Jones’ script updates the setting to modern day New York.
Although it’s interesting to consider how the story could be informed by a post-9/11, post-GFC environment. But would Patrick Bateman as we know and love him even exist in those parameters.

The whole point of American Psycho was the indictment of the 80s greed culture. Why would you update it for the new millenium. Ridiculous. Having said that, Justin Hartley (is that right?) from Smallville.
