Clive Owen, Mia Wasikowska offered Oldboy roles

Clive Owen and Mia Wasikowska have been targeted to star opposite Josh Brolin in Spike Lee‘s upcoming Oldboy remake.

According to Twitch, Owen has been offered the role of primary antagonist. Colin Firth and Christian Bale both turned down the part prior.

Meanwhile, Aussie Wasikowska is being courted to take on the lead female role. Rooney Mara was originally suggested to be a contender, but passed on the project back in October.

Brolin remains set to star in the role originated by Choi Min-sik in Park Chan-wook‘s 2003 Oldboy. He plays a man kidnapped and imprisoned without explanation, and released 15 years later (also without explanation). Framed for the murder of his wife, our hero goes on a violent rampage and hunts down his mysterious captors.

Discuss: Do you think Owen and Wasikowska are suitable additions?
