The newly Oscar-nominated Rooney Mara has booked her first post-Dragon Tattoo role, and it ain’t shabby.
The ingénue will take the lead role in Steven Soderbergh‘s pharmaceutical thriller Side Effects (formerly titled Bitter Pill), Deadline reports.
Mara is replacing Blake Lively in the picture, which is also set to star Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
She will play a “sexy but unsettled young woman” whose addiction to prescription drugs help her deal with the impending release of her husband from prison.
Frequent Soderbergh collaborator Scott Z. Burns penned the screenplay. Shooting begins in a couple of months.
The Oscar-winning director is wrapping up Magic Mike and will soon get to work on his Liberace biopic. He also has Haywire awaiting release in Australia. Then, maybe, he’ll retire.
