That Candy Land movie is still going ahead, and it’s even got a star attached: Adam Sandler.
Columbia Pictures, Sandler’s production company Happy Madison, and board game creator Hasbro Inc. made the announcement via press release (which you can read in full over at Slashfilm).
Screenwriters Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Barger originally described the pic as “Lord of The Rings, but set in a world of candy”. The release doesn’t offer much more info, except to say it will be ” a fantastical, live-action family adventure film with a larger than life part for Adam”.
Kevin Lima (Enchanted) will direct, and Sandler is in talks to co-write the screenplay with frequent collaborator Robert Smigel.
