Katherine Heigl to investigate puppet murders

Katherine Heigl is in “advanced negotiations” to star in the Who Framed Roger Rabbit-sounding new film The Happytime Murders, Deadline reports.

The picture, written by Todd Berger, features a world in which puppets and humans co-exist, but where puppets are second-class citizens. When the cast of a 1980s puppet show are murdered one by one, a private eye seeks to find the killer.

Jim Henson‘s son Brian (The Muppets Christmas Carol) will direct.

Discuss: Sounds exactly like the kind of fresh, funny, and novel project Heigl’s flailing career could use.
