Michael Bay to helm Transformers 4

Hardly the most exciting or surprising news, but at least now it’s official.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed at Toy Fair 2012 that Michael Bay will indeed return to direct the fourth instalment of the Transformers series.

Speaking to MTV, di Bonaventura said “Michael’s going to direct, and it’ll be [released] in the summer of 2014”.

Bay will likely complete his relatively small scale crime flick Pain & Gain before then. Paramount’s funding of that project was believed to be the carrot that enticed him to helm another Transformers sequel.
