Nic Cage’s stolen comic book to get its own movie

Not only is Nicolas Cage starring in every film under the sun, but now he’s also inspiring films based on his life.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate has purchased a new comedy from screenwriters Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon entitled Action No. 1.

The film centres on the real theft of Cage’s ultra-rare issue of Action Comics (No. 1, for those playing at home) which features the debut of Superman himself.

The comic was nabbed in 2000, and then recovered in 2011 when it was located in an abandoned storage locker. Cage sold the copy for $2.1 million late last year.

Garant and Lennon wrote the script with Cage in mind to play himself, but, bizarrely, the actor is reportedly not interested in the part.

Discuss: Sound like a promising comedy even without Cage’s involvement?
