The first batch of features headed to the 2012 Sydney Film Festival have been unveiled.
Their sneak peek reveals 15 narrative features – including lyrical Sundance hit Beasts of the Southern Wild and Oscar nominated Canadian film Monsieur Lazhar – as well as 13 documentaries.
Among the documentaries: Woody Allen, a three hour examination of the legendary filmmaker‘s career; Joe Berlinger‘s Under African Skies, featuring Paul Simon’s reunion with his Graceland collaborators in South Africa; Side by Side, where Keanu Reeves interviews directors (such as George Lucas and Lars von Trier), cinematographers, editors, and technicians, about the art of movie-making; and Sundance World Cinema Audience Award winner Searching for Sugarman.
Joining Beasts of the Southern Wild and Monsieur Lazhar in the features: perplexing prize-winner Tabu; strangely comic and supposedly surprising procedural Once Upon a Time in Anatolia; Oren Moverman and Woody Harrelson‘s latest collaboration, Rampart; Alexander Sokurov’s Faust; and black comedy Some Guy Who Kills People.

SFF2012 runs from June 6-17.
