Animal Kingdom director takes on The Rover

David Michôd has selected The Rover as his follow-up to Animal Kingdom, Variety reports.

The Aussie filmmaker plans to write and direct the drama based on an idea he conjured up with Animal Kingdom star Joel Edgerton.

In The Rover, a man is on a mission to find his stolen car, in which he has left something invaluable. Further plot details are scarce at this point in time, however filming will take place in Australia and is expected to commence later this year.

David Linde will produce under his Lava Bear banner with Liz Watts producing for Porchlight Films.

Michod, a member of Blue-Tongue Films with Joel and Nash Edgerton, will next direct a segment for Sydney Unplugged, a series of short films centred in the city. He last co-wrote Bear with Nash, a short film which premiered at Sundance.
