David Cronenberg to direct Catching Fire?

Canada’s finest, David Cronenberg, is on Lionsgate’s shortlist of potential directors for their Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire.

According to the L.A. Times, the studio is also interested in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban helmer Alfonso Cuarón, and Biutiful director Alejandro González Iñárritu, among others.

After weeks of speculation, Gary Ross announced on Wednesday that he would not stay on as franchise director, citing scheduling issues.
