It’s the part Spike Lee just can’t fill: that of the villain in his upcoming remake of Oldboy.
Christian Bale, Colin Firth, and Clive Owen have all passed on the role, though, as anyone who has seen Park Chan-wook‘s South Korean original knows, it’s a juicy one.
Variety now reports that an offer has gone out to District 9‘s Sharlto Copley.
Josh Brolin is set to star as a man kidnapped and imprisoned without explanation, and released 15 years later (also without explanation). Framed for the murder of his wife, our hero goes on a violent rampage and hunts down his mysterious captors.
Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) has been offered the female lead.
Discuss: Does Copley have what it takes to be an imposing antagonist opposite Brolin?
I loved district nine, it was Sci Fi that touched the edges of our human mortality and stupidity, weird but good movie so I look forward to him starring in a really good movie
