Nancy Meyers has secured Tina Fey as the lead in her upcoming comedy The Intern.
The news is exclusive to Deadline, who report that Paramount Pictures is looking to finance and distribute the pic.
Fey will play the founder of an e-business “with a fashion focus” who gets a 70-year-old widower as an intern.
Meyers’ stresses the central relationship will be a “platonic” one (phew), but would not reveal the actor she has in mind for the part.
Though Meyers’ Something’s Gotta Give is a bit of a gem, her last effort as writer-director, It’s Complicated, was mostly terrible despite an appealing cast. Here’s hoping Fey’s comic talents don’t disappear here like they did for her 30 Rock co-star Alec Baldwin in that other film.
Dicsuss: Are you ready for Fey to complete her transition from TV to movie star?
