Darren Aronofsky plots George Washington biopic

Darren Aronofsky is set to produce and direct a biopic about the first President of the American States, George Washington, says Variety.

The director who gave us Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, and Black Swan is already in pre production on Noah, his epic retelling of the biblical story starring Russell Crowe.

Reports suggest The General will be his next project, and that Paramount is considering the film with Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures. They have a first-look deal with Aronofsky’s banner but “If the studio doesn’t close a deal in the next couple of days, others get a shot — and interest is expected to be high, with Aronofsky coming off the $329 million worldwide gross and awards success of Black Swan.”

Aronofsky’s project seems long overdue. As far as modern biopics of historical American politicians go, we’ll all pretend Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar never happened, okay?
