The trailer for Your Sister’s Sister, Lynn Shelton‘s follow up to the marvellous mumblecore flick Humpday, has arrived online.
The pic stars Emily Blunt and Rosemarie DeWitt as sisters Iris and Hannah, who wind up embroiled in a complicated, semi-romantic entanglement with the befuddled Jack (Mark Duplass).
This isn’t your traditional love triangle however; Iris is the ex of Jack’s late brother, and Hannah has just wrapped up a seven-year lesbian relationship. Iris offers Jack her family cabin to help him mourn his brother’s passing, and while there he drunkenly falls into bed with Hannah. The next morning, Iris arrives, and low-key indie hijinks presumably ensue.
Shelton is perfectly adept at straddling the line between comedy and drama, so we’ve got high hopes for Your Sister’s Sister. Here’s hoping it’ll reach the awkward, heartfelt heights of Humpday, in which two heterosexual buddies dare one another to make a sex tape together for an art project, and struggle to be the bigger man and back down.
Your Sister’s Sister does not yet have a release date.
