Sydney Film Festival 2012 line-up revealed

The full line-up of features and shorts heading to New South Wales for the 2012 Sydney Film Festival has been revealed.

Incoming fest director Nashen Moodley has secured a number of ambitious titles, alongside your expected marquee arthouse fare.

Joining previously announced features Beasts of the Southern Wild and Monsieur Lazhar in the Official Competition: Yorgos Lanthimos’ Alps, Golden Bear winner Caesar Must Die, an adaptation of The Slap author Christos Tsiolkas’ Dead Europe, Cate Shortland‘s Lore, acclaimed and innovative love story Tabu, and Walter Salles’ take on Jack Kerouac’s On the Road, among others.

Other noteworthy flicks showing out of competition include Michael Haneke’s Amour, Ken Loach‘s The Angels’ Share, Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, and Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights.

Newly added to the documentary slate: the much-talked about Bully, Death of a Japanese Salesman, Oscar winner Undefeated, and Marina Abramovic’s The Artist is Present.

There will also be a Bernardo Bertolucci retrospective, an examination of Japan’s oldest movie studio (Nikkatsu), a series of independent productions from India, as well as an exhibition of Fabrizio Maltese’s festival portraits at the Sydney Film Festival Hub.

This is in addition to the shorts, music docos, and freaky flicks traditionally screened during SFF.

The Sydney Film Festival runs from June 6-17, 2012. Proceedings will kick off with Opening Night film Not Suitable for Childrenand come to a close with Safety Not Guaranteed.
