Edgar Wright is suddenly a very busy man. Just last week it was revealed he would finally reunite with Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost for The World’s End, and now it looks like his long-gestating superhero flick Ant-Man is getting off the ground too.
Wright has been attached to direct Marvel’s Ant-Man for quite some time; he worked on the script with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).
Slashfilm emailed Wright and asked him what the project’s status was. He responded thusly:
“So as not to jinx things, I am going to remain spectacularly vague on this. Let’s just say I hope to shoot some Antman & World’s End this year.”
Now that Marvel and Disney are flush with Avengers money, hopefully they’ll be more inclined to fund riskier projects, even if they are about a biophysicist who shrinks down to the size of an ant.
No news on the state of Wright’s reported collaboration with Johnny Depp, The Night Stalker.
Discuss: Which of his three upcoming projects would you like to see first?
Ant-man; I have waited long enough.
