Trailer Debut: Michel Gondry’s The We and The I

The trailer for Michel Gondry‘s latest feature, The We and The I, is now online ahead of the pic’s debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film follows a bunch of high school students from the Bronx taking the bus home on the last day of school, and recalls the community aspect of Be Kind Rewind and Dave Chappelle’s Block Party.

Despite the naturalistic, pseudo-documentary feel of the trailer, Indiewire last year reported a time-travel twist, confirmed by Gondry’s reps. However, it’s unknown if the premise of “school kids who travel into the future by mistake and discover a machine that keeps people younger” has survived this current iteration.

Check out the trailer and share your thoughts below.

The We and The I opens the Director’s Fortnight at Cannes this week. It does not yet have an Australian release.
