Greg Mottola (Superbad, Paul) is in talks to adapt Pulitzer Prize winning author Jeffrey Eugenides novel The Marriage Plot to film, Variety reports.
The novel is a coming of age story set in the early 1980s, so we can assume Mottola was pegged for his similarly styled recent movie, Adventureland, which he also wrote.
Eugenides is probably best known as the scribe behind the novel from which Sofia Coppola based her first feature, The Virgin Suicides.
It’s not known at this stage whether Mottola will also direct, but judging from his work on debut feature The Daytrippers and Adventureland, he surely has the skill in creating a gentle, melancholy impression of youth that Eugenides’ source material requires.
