We’ve trained ourselves to not believe a word that comes out of Kick-Ass author Mark Millar’s mouth, so you can imagine our surprise when Deadline revealed a sequel to his 2010 superhero flick was indeed in the works.
Aaron Johnson and Chloe Moretz are currently finalising deals with Universal Pictures to appear in the second instalment as DIY vigilantes Kick-Ass and Hit Girl, while Nicolas Cage is in talks to pop up in a small cameo. It is unknown if antagonist Christopher Mintz-Plasse will return.
Original helmer Matthew Vaughn won’t direct Kick-Ass 2, concerned as he is with the follow-up to X-Men: First Class. Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down) has instead been handed the reins.
Amazingly, as Millar suggested, the film will likely begin shooting later this year.
