The trailer for Silver Linings Playbook, director David O. Russell‘s follow-up to Oscar winner The Fighter, has arrived online.
Bradley Cooper stars as a former teacher released (prematurely?) from a mental institution and into the care of his parents (Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver). He sparks up a relationship with a similarly troubled neighbour (Jennifer Lawrence).
Russell adapted Matthew Quick’s novel of the same name for the screen, and it seems to hark back to his earlier indie films (Spanking the Monkey, Flirting with Disaster).
The trailer looks pretty promising, with equal measures of heart and hilarity. It’ll be nice to see Bradley Cooper showing off a different, more dramatic side, and we’re always impressed by Lawrence. However, the real wild cards here are Australia’s own Jacki Weaver, and the long-absent Chris Tucker as Cooper’s buddy. We’re intrigued!
Silver Linings Playbooks hits Australian cinemas November 29, 2012.
