Hit British series The Inbetweeners is set for a U.S. big screen adaptation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount is interested in bringing the story of four awkward friends navigating adolescence, high school, and the prospect of becoming adults to American audiences. They’re hoping to recreate the box office gold that The Inbetweeners Movie struck in 2011 when it became the highest grossing UK comedy of all time.
Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, co-creators of the original series, are onboard to write and direct the US film, while an American version of the television series is set to premiere on MTV in August.
It’s not the first time Americans have had a go at adapting hits from overseas, with The Office standing out as one success story and Kath and Kim serving as a warning. We’ll have to wait and see how they take to these four lads on the silver screen.
