Anthony Hopkins joins Darren Aronofsky’s Noah

Writer and director Darren Aronofsky has taken to Twitter to announce the addition of Anthony Hopkins to his star studded Noah cast.

Currently filming in Iceland, the Black Swan director is bringing the epic biblical story of Noah’s Ark to the big screen with Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, and Douglas Booth already attached.

The tweet in question said, “I’m honored to be working with the great sir anthony hopkins. We just added him to the stellar cast of #Noah. #methuselahlives.”

Hopkins will play Methuselah, Noah’s grandfather, who, according to the Bible, was the oldest living person to die before the great flood at the ripe old age of 969 years.

The film will retell the classic story about a world ravaged by sin; the only hope being an all consuming flood that would spare Noah, his family and two of each animal should he listen to God and build an ark. It is set for a 2014 release.

Discuss: Impressive cast, no?
