Wondering how Sam Raimi has reinvented the The Wizard of Oz? Wonder no longer!
The trailer for Oz, the Great and Powerful has arrived online, evoking producer Joe Roth’s previous epics Alice in Wonderland and Snow White and the Huntsman. Here’s hoping Raimi brings some of his signature style and oddball flair to differentiate from those other unremarkable movies. That being said, we love the opening transition from 4:3 B&W to widescreen technicolour. Reminds us of another movie, actually…
It stars James Franco as the eponymous con-artist, transported to a strange, magical land far from his home of Kansas. The picture also features Mila Kunis as the eventual Wicked Witch of the West, Theodora, Michelle Williams as the Good Witch, Glinda, and Rachel Weisz as the Wicked Witch of the East, Evanora.
