Beasts of the Southern Wild starlet (and inevitable Oscar nominee) Quvenzhané Wallis has joined the cast of Steve McQueen‘s already star-studded Twelve Years a Slave. The other lead actor from that acclaimed Sundance hit, Dwight Henry, similarly nabbed a role in the pic last month. Guess McQueen is a fan!
The scoop comes from Indiewire, who also snapped this set-pic with star Chiwetel Ejiofor. Wallis will play his daughter, though the size of the role is unknown.
Based on Solomon Northrup’s autobiography, the film tells of a black man who was kidnapped in 1841 and forced to be a slave for more than a decade.
The pic marks McQueen’s follow up to Shame, and also stars Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Garret Dillahunt, Paul Dano, Michael K. Williams, and Taran Killam.
