First look at Daniel Day-Lewis as Spielberg’s Lincoln

The first image of Daniel Day-Lewis as legendary American president Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg‘s upcoming biopic has been released by Entertainment Weekly. Gee, we hope that’s not a theatre he’s sitting at…

He seems to be rather exhausted here, perhaps from a recent battle with the undead, or, more likely, due to the weight of a disastrous civil war and the fact that an entire nation’s future rests on his shoulders.

Lincoln is based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book Team of Rivals, and has been adapted by Tony Kushner for the screen.

The picture also stars Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Tommy Lee Jones. It hits U.S. cinemas in November, and will likely arrive on our shores before the 2013 Academy Awards (where it will surely be a nominee).
