Vera Farmiga will play Norman Bates’ mother – pre-skeletal, of course – in Bates Motel, A&E’s TV series based on Alfred Hitchcock‘s classic Psycho.
According to Deadline, Norman’s mother is called Norma, and is a “passionate, and compelling…smart, multidimensional character who is always capable of surprising us.”
Bates Motel has a straight-to-series order, so we can look forward to 10 episodes arriving in 2013.
The show will be written and executive produced by Lost‘s Carlton Cuse and Parenthood‘s Kerry Ehrin.
No actor has yet been set to play Norman.
