Philip Seymour Hoffman is set to see dead people as he signs on to direct a ghost story entitled Ezekiel Moss.
Variety confirms the actor’s second directorial effort is a “Depression-era ghost story”, written by Keith Bunin and pulled from the 2011 Black List of the most popular unproduced screenplays.
The official synopsis suggests the film is about “a young, imaginative boy living in a small town who befriends a mysterious drifter who may have the ability to communicate with the dead.” It is unknown whether Hoffman will also take a role in the film, though his appearance at recent red carpet events might suggest he could easily portray the mysterious drifter.
Cathy Schulman of Mandalay Pictures will produce the picture she describes as a “captivating and gothic exploration of faith and the supernatural.”
Hoffman is currently filming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and can next be seen in Paul Thomas Anderson’s much-anticipated The Master.
