“All of us harbour dark recesses of violence and horror. I’m just a man hiding in the corner with a camera, watching,” says Anthony Hopkins as famed director Alfred Hitchcock in the first trailer for the biopic Hitchcock.
Directed by Sacha Gervasi (Anvil: The Story of Anvil), with a screenplay by John J. McLaughlin (Black Swan) and based on the book by Stephen Rebello, Hitchcock focuses on the period in the auteur’s life when he battled with the studio to make the film Psycho.
Helen Mirren stars as Hitchcock’s wife Alma Reville, and Scarlett Johansson as Psycho’s leading lady Janet Leigh (we even get a glimpse into the filming of her infamous shower scene). Jessica Biel, Toni Collette and Michael Stuhlbarg also star.
The movie looks promising with the trailer providing plenty of humorous moments and even a few ‘For Your Consideration’ style clips that will surely see Oscar come calling, if only for a nomination.
Hitchcock hits cinemas early 2013.
