Jim Carrey set to steal Loomis Fargo

Jim Carrey is in negotiations to star in action-comedy Loomis Fargo helmed by Napolean Dynamite director Jared Hess.

According to THR, the film is based on the 15-year-old true story of a $17 million heist involving an armoured car in North Carolina, with screenwriters Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down), Jody Hill (Observe & Report), Emily Spivey (Up All Night), Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer (Napoleon Dynamite television series) all involved in some stage of writing the script.

If the deal goes ahead Carrey will play the ex-military leader of a band of Southern armoured car guards who pull off the heist.

Carrey is enjoying a career resurgence with the news he will reprise the character Lloyd Christmas in the Farrelly Brothers’ Dumb and Dumber Too, as well as a starring role in Kick-Ass 2.

Lorne Michaels (Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock) will produce the low-budget comedy for Relativity with John Goldwyn (Dexter).
