Teaser Debut: Carrie

The first teaser for Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie remake offers only a glimpse of the prom night from hell, ending in a blood-soaked Chloe Grace Moretz.

The film is among a growing list of remakes fans didn’t ask for, but the Boys Don’t Cry director is betting all her chips on the casting of young Moretz, as the meek Carrie White who discovers she has powers, and Julianne Moore as her bible-bashing mother Margaret. The roles earned actors Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie an Academy Award nomination each for the 1976 film directed by Brian De Palma.

The teaser first debuted at New York Comic Con before its online release, and offers little more than a narration as the camera pans over burning small-town Chamberlain, Maine. It’s Carrie’s first prom and things don’t go to plan after the bullying she endures from her class mates pushes her to the edge as her telekinetic powers take over.

It hits cinemas March 2013.

  1. Not only did we not ask for the remake I don’t recall asking for that Carrie sequel that came out a few years back. Oh the horror…
