Attention twenty-something hipsters: watch this trailer for Michael Mohan’s Save The Date and tell me it isn’t the movie that plays in your head while you ride the streets on your fixie?
I’m a big fan of Alison Brie and Lizzy Caplan, so part of me is really excited to see Save The Date, a film which follows the relationship ups and downs of two sisters.
Caplan should’ve been a star five years ago, therefore any film that gives her more attention is fine by me. And, being a fan of Community, I don’t need to say that I (like everyone else who watches that show) am in love with Alison Brie.
Sadly, this trailer is gut-churningly bad, literally ticking off hipster traits one-by-one before descending into a pit of emo navel-gazing.
Word is that Save The Date is a genuinely warm and sweet movie. I’ll be back on board just as soon as I can wash the bad taste of that trailer out of my mind.
Save the Date does not yet have a local release date.
