Ryan Gosling exits Logan’s Run remake

Ryan Gosling chooses not to go to carousel and be renewed as he bows out of the Logan’s Run remake, according to Variety’s Justin Kroll.

The long-awaited remake had Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn and star Gosling on board earlier this year, but now a busy workload is believed to be the reason for Gosling’s departure.

Gosling is currently starring alongside Michael Fassbender, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, and Cate Blanchett in Terrence Malick’s new film due out next year. He’s also set to make his directorial debut with How to Catch a Monster later this year.

The project was thought to be postponed while the duo collaborated for the second time on Only God Forgives, but it’s clear now that Logan’s Run is in need of a new leading man. Refn is still reportedly onboard to direct with an initial screenplay by Alex Garland (Never Let Me Go, 28 Days Later) and rewrites by Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Andrew Baldwin.

Only God Forgives hits cinemas in 2013.

One Response to “Ryan Gosling exits Logan’s Run remake”

  1. Well, that scotches my theory of Logan’s Run actually becoming the rumoured Drive sequel with a subtle name change to Logan’s Drive.
