James McAvoy re-teams with Benedict Cumberbatch for WikiLeaks movie

James McAvoy is in negotiations to star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Bill Condon’s upcoming WikiLeaks movie, Variety reports.

Cumberbatch will star as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange; McAvoy would play his German colleague Daniel Domscheit-Berg.

New RoboCop Joel Kinnaman had previously been rumoured to have secured this role.

The picture is based on Domscheit-Berg’s book Inside WikiLeaks: My Time With Julian Assange At The World’s Most Dangerous Website, as well as David Leigh and Luke Harding’s WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War On Secrecy. The script has been penned by Josh Singer.

McAvoy and Cumberbatch previously appeared together in the British comedy Starter for Ten.

There is no release date set for the picture at this time.
