In news that should surprise absolutely no one, Variety reports that a feature film based on the MacGyver TV series is in the works.
It was only a matter of time, but after the horrible (or sensational depending on your taste) MacGyver spoof film, MacGruber, we were hoping that this particular 80s property had dodged the remake bullet.
Alas, we were wrong, and Variety reports that co-creator of the Saw franchise James Wan is in talks to direct a script penned by the writer of that ‘sensational’ (joke) Nic Cage film, Bangkok Dangerous. Getting that young guy who makes average horror films to make a MacGyver movie is an idea that can only end well right? Right?!
That’s all we know at this point, and while Richard Dean Anderson pensively sits by the phone waiting to be called back into action, we can now look forward to yet another lovely childhood memory pillaged by the Hollywood machine.
There is no release date set for the flick.
