A lawsuit could keep Robert Rodriguez’s grindhouse sequel Machete Kills from ever seeing the light of day.
According to Deadline, Overnight Productions – who hold the original rights to Machete – wish to overturn their decision to allow Rodriguez’s Quick Draw Productions to make the flick.
Overnight seek to end the agreement, claiming they have been kept in the dark as to the budget and the Texas tax credits that have been awarded, making it impossible for them to determine their producer fee.
They are seeking $2 million in damages.
Should they win the suit, the release of the film could be, ahem, killed.
The picture stars Danny Trejo in the title role. He’s joined by Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, Amber Heard, and Lady Gaga.
It – may – hit cinemas in 2013.
