Trailer Debut: Jack the Giant Slayer

The trailer for Bryan Singer’s long-gestating Jack the Giant Slayer has arrived, and the film looks as if it’s cut from the same cloth as all those other recent fairy-tale reinterpretations.

A bit of a different take on the legendary fable, it stars Nicholas Hoult as a simple farm boy who joins the King’s army in their battle against the giants that live atop an enormous beanstalk.

It looks a little lighter in tone than Snow White and the Huntsman and Alice in Wonderland, but doesn’t seem to have any of the lunacy of Mirror, Mirror.

Does that mean it exists in a happy middle-ground, or will it simply be an forgettable experience?

All will be revealed in March, 2013. It also stars Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci.
