Trailer Debut: To The Wonder

Swooping, ethereal camera angles! Running through fields! Enigmatic narration! Yes, the trailer for Terrence Malick’s To The Wonder has arrived.

The picture ostensibly tells the story of Marina (Olga Kurylenko) and Neil’s (Ben Affleck) doomed relationship. However, reviews following its debut at the Venice Film Festival suggested this was even more abstract than your typical Malick film, so take that brief logline with a pinch of salt.

Most of the movie’s dialogue is delivered via voice-over narration, and we get a glimpse of that here courtesy of Javier Bardem’s priest character.

Jessica Chastain, Rachel Weisz, Barry Pepper, and Michael Sheen were all excised from the final cut.

To The Wonder hits cinemas in 2013.
