In news that signals this remake craze is well and truly out of control, Deadline reports that MGM is looking to mount a new take on Ben Hur.
As with most remakes these days, insiders are claiming this reboot returns to the source material of Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel Ben Hur: A Tale Of The Christ.
The most significant difference between the book and the classic 1959 film with Charlton Heston was the book’s inclusion of a major parallel plot following the rise and fall of Jesus Christ.
This new film reportedly includes this parallel plot resulting in what must surely amount to a five hour film considering the original Ben Hur was already nudging four hours.
No word as to who would direct or star, but fans of chariot races can officially begin getting excited.
