Anna Paquin and Ellen Page back for X-Men: Days of Future Past

Director Bryan Singer announced via Twitter that Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore have joined the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The trio last appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand, directed by Brett Ratner, playing mutant students Rogue (Paquin), Kitty Pryde (Page), and Iceman (Ashmore).

They join James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult, who will reprise their roles from X-Men: First Class, as well as X-Men veterans Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellan.

According to the official synopsis, Days of Future Past “alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly.”

After this latest casting news the big question is whether any more of the original cast members will join Singer’s growing mutant family. Perhaps Halle Berry?

Days of Future Past hits cinemas in 2014.
